Heather Campbell Receives 2017 Wildfire Mitigation Award
We are proud to announce that Heather Campbell, Chair of the Pollock Pines Fire Safe Council, was recently selected to receive this prestigious national award. She is one of fourteen winners nationwide and one of the few volunteers that were selected.
The award is jointly sponsored by the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and the National Association of State Foresters. This is the third year the award has been presented and the second time members of the El Dorado County Fire Safe Council have been selected. Ken and Nancy Hasse were award winners in 2015.
Heather was recognized for her leadership in establishing the Pollock Pines Fire Safe Council, her personal efforts in winning Community Wildfire Awareness Grants in 2015 and 2016, and her success in obtaining CAL FIRE fuel reduction grants totaling $300,000 for the Pollock Pines community in 2015 and 2016.
On Tuesday February 28th 2017, her accomplishments were recognized by a proclamation by the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. The award will be presented at the IAFC Wildland-Urban Interface Conference (WUI) in Reno, Nevada on March 22, 2017.
